Color Grading

Here is what we have to work with. Our team sets up grading with Jakarta colourists working in calibrated DaVinci Resolve suites, managing conform, primary and secondary grading, look development and HDR delivery so the finished image carries a steady, intentional aesthetic. Here is how the work shapes up. While the very largest global theatrical grades are occasionally finished at regional facilities including those in Singapore, the Jakarta post community grades the substantial majority of Indonesia's domestic feature, series and platform output to full pro standard. Indonesia gives colourists a landscape of top visual range. The world's largest archipelago spans some 17,000 islands, from the volcanic peaks of Mount Bromo, Mount Batur and Mount Agung to the temples of Borobudur and Prambanan, the rice terraces of Tegalalang and Jatiluwih, the reefs of Raja Ampat and the rainforests of Sumatra.

Here is how it adds up. Each setting invites a deliberate grade. Indonesian cinema has used colour with real intent: Joko Anwar's horror titles such as 'Satan's Slaves' lean on controlled darkness and unease. Mouly Surya's 'Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts' uses the stark light of the eastern islands as a character in itself. Global shoots including 'Eat Pray Love' drew on Bali's warm, saturated palette. With streaming sites investing heavily in Indonesian-language content and Kemenparekraf promoting the country as a production destination, Jakarta's grading suites have steady demand for finishing that gives these landscapes a confident, distinctive cinematic identity.
