Time-lapse & Hyperlapse

Here is what that looks like on the ground. We produce timelapse and hyperlapse sequences from a crew base in Jakarta and Bali, fielding operators who know that this discipline is as much about patient planning as it is about camera craft. Our teams scout the move, calculate intervals and exposure ramps, and run motorised sliders and motion-control heads for shots that drift, pan or track across hours of real time. For hyperlapse we plot precise camera positions step by step, stabilising the result so the move stays smooth.

Here is how the picture comes together. Indonesia's tropical climate makes weatherproofing key: rigs left running for long sessions need rain cover, condensation control and silica protection against humidity. The equatorial sun demands ND filtration and careful exposure ramping for day-to-night transitions. Battery and storage capacity are planned for unattended multi-hour shoots. For sunrise volcano work the crew accounts for pre-dawn calls and changeable mountain weather. For sequences at Bromo, Borobudur or remote island locations, we build compact, self-enough kits that travel easily by flight and boat. Indonesia gives timelapse subjects of rare drama.

Here is what we have to work with. The country sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire with around 130 active volcanoes. The classic sunrise over Mount Bromo, with cloud filling the caldera below, is one of the most filmed timelapse vantage points in Asia. Jakarta, a megacity of constant traffic and shifting light, suits cityscape and cloud-movement sequences. The UNESCO-listed Borobudur sits under clear equatorial skies that make it superb for astro and star-trail work. Bali adds terraced fields, sea temples and volcanoes such as Batur and Agung.

Here is the layout. The dry season, roughly April or May to September or October, brings the steady, cloud-free conditions that timelapse work depends on. Foreign shoots need filming permits, ATA carnets are accepted for incoming camera and motion-control gear, and sites such as Borobudur and national parks have their own access rules. Our team secures clearances in advance, including any needed for pre-dawn or all-night shooting.
